KALYAN
Kalyan is known for its rich culture and glorious history. One such trace of the cultural remains is Durgadi Fort. Along the riverbanks of Ganesh Ghat, old brick lighthouses, which were used to guide vessels sailing up the river during the Maratha period, can also be found.
Kalyan is one of the upcoming locations in the suburbs. The significance of Kalyan as a junction was proved with all local trains and long distance trains halting here. After Kalyan, there are two routes for local trains. One goes towards Karjat and other towards Kasara, acting as a centre point for various places. Kalyan acts as the central point for various nearby towns such as Ulhasnagar, Dombivli, Ambernath, Bhiwandi, Murbad, Thane and even Navi Mumbai.
The suburbs like Shahad, Murbad and Bhiwandi are also near from Kalyan. With sound connectivity of trains, Kalyan has its bus services Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Transport by Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) for plying to nearby areas.
Kalyan is well equipped with schools and colleges around for the residents. For retail, the Metro mall is providing many shopping options not only for the residents of Kalyan, but for residents of nearby areas like Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath and Badlapur. Besides, there are a number of restaurants, branded stores and shopping complexes at Shivaji Chowk and Khadak Pada. Cinemax has come up recently. In addition, there is Acharya Atre Rang Mandir, one of the most wellequipped performing theatres, giving the taste of various cultural activities.
The industrial development in and around the Dombivli-Kalyan belt has attracted a number of young professionals. Affordable and budget homes have given a new outlook to the real estate in Kalyan.
