Maharashtra Appoints Recovery Officers to Speed Up Rs 912 Crore MahaRERA Compensation for Buyers

The Maharashtra government has taken a significant step to assist homebuyers who have been facing delays in receiving compensation by appointing 12 senior recovery officers. These officers will be responsible for enforcing recovery warrants issued by the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) against builders who have defaulted on payments. Current Recovery Status
According to MahaRERA data, a total of Rs 912.11 crore in compensation has been sanctioned to homebuyers across Maharashtra. However, only Rs 222.13 crore has been recovered to date, leaving a significant Rs 689.98 crore still outstanding. The six districts involvedโMumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Pune, Palghar, and Raigadโaccount for the majority of these pending recoveries. Notably, Mumbai Suburban alone represents Rs 325.43 crore of the outstanding amount. In comparison, Nagpur has shown better performance, recovering Rs 9.66 crore out of the Rs 10.9 crore sanctioned.
