The state housing authority has begun handing over 537 rehabilitation flats to eligible residents of the Naigaon BDD chawls, after the first rehabilitation tower secured its occupancy certificate. The homes are 500 sq ft two-bedroom units, allotted through the project office.
The handover is part of the wider BDD chawl redevelopment spanning close to 86 acres across Naigaon, Worli and the Parel belt, covering roughly 207 chawls and more than 15,000 residents. It follows an earlier batch of about 864 homes handed over earlier in the year.
