MahaRERA dues recovery slows down despite dedicated officers

The recovery of penalties ordered by the state real-estate regulator, MahaRERA, has been sluggish despite the appointment of dedicated recovery officers in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad. Out of 1,342 recovery warrants, only about 306 have been executed.
Approximately ₹912 crore in fines have been imposed, but only around ₹222 crore has been recovered, leaving nearly ₹690 crore outstanding. A time-bound recovery initiative has been mandated, as the slow enforcement is causing delays in refunds owed to homebuyers.
